The Beck Diet Solution by Judith Beck, Ph.D.

Has anyone read this book or even heard of it?! I am eager to talk to anyone who has read the book. I contacted my weight challenge group on the forum but got absolutely no response. Since this reaches more of you, I am hoping SOMEONE has had experience with it. Or maybe someone has already posted about it and I didn’t see it.

I heard about this book while listening to NPR (radio). I was very intrigued by what this woman was saying so got the book from the library. I have to say this is the first time in a very long time I have felt some hope, that maybe, just maybe, I will be able to do something about my cravings and my feeling bad about my lack of control. I am excited but have no one to share this with. I do realize that no one way works for everyone and we each have to find our own path. But I would love to talk with someone about THIS particular path as it is so different from any weight loss book I have ever read, and I’ve read a lot of them! I think I can actually DO this!!! I went on amazon.com and there were a ton of reviews from customers who had read the book and they were so positive.

I need advice/opinions on exercise equipment

I’m considering getting a piece of exercise equipment and would like to hear what others use. I love to walk but here in Wisconsin we have those frozen days and rainy days and windy days and times when you just don’t wish to venture out for whatever reason. For the most part I will walk outside. I did have a treadmill but it bit the dust and would prefer equipment that doesn’t have a motor.  What do you use that worked best for you and you stayed with the longest? Thanks! Gale

Oprah show

Did anyone see the Oprah show the other day? Martha Beck was on along with a couple other people. They were discussing how thoughts create reality. Like in the book The Secret. They also talked about making a vision board. I really liked what they had to say. It is difficult for me to stay positive sometimes but they talked about how positive thoughts tend to bring positive things into your life and the opposite is true also. They talked about how important it is to love yourself and not continually put yourself down. I need to work on that. I think it could really help in all areas of life, including weight loss.

I am enjoying reading all your thoughts and successes and failures. Time to join in. I am feeling so frustrated and disgusted with myself as I do great with my eating until about 4 in the afternoon and then all bets are off. It’s a feeding frenzy. I feel like I have the will power of a gnat. Very tiny. I’m not going to give up though. They say that dieters (and smokers) have to try many times before they finally succeed.
